After graduating from The City College of New York with a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Laura Sandoval worked as a Rice 360° Global Health Fellow from 2014-2016. Her work focused on developing a low-cost ambulatory sphygmomanometer designed for monitoring women with preeclampsia which she helped lead through design iterations and clinical trials in maternity wards in Houston and Malawi.
